New historical study by Sharjah Ruler released
Sharjah, Feb 17, 2009 (WAM) - "Sharjah Airport between the East and the West" is the recent study by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah.
The 125-page study which was released last January is the most recent addition to a series of works by Sheikh Sultan aimed at presenting misconceptions about the history of Islam and the Arabian Gulf.
The author relied on his collection, known as the Qawassim documents, and photos of personalities which played an active role in known events.
Four chapters and three appendices elaborate on the aviation history of Sharjah presenting details on the history of the emirate's first runway, facilities and the related agreement.
"Sheikh Sultan's work is characterized by unprecedented depth, comprehensiveness and authenticity", according to Prof Salama Al Balawi, Head of the Department of History and Islamic Civilization at the University of Sharjah.
