Sultan Bin Tahnoun: IDEX2009 is the largest exhibition Abu Dhabi hosts

Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) said that Abu Dhabi is blessed with the infrastructure and utilities of the highest global standards, thanks to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and continuous follow up from HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He said that UAE in General and Abu Dhabi in particular have several elements of strength that attracts the organisers of major international exhibitions and events. This is in addition to the strong management skills found in this country to lead such important events into success. The perfect coordination among various departments and the easiness to reach Abu Dhabi are also among the factors that contribute to the success of vital and lively events in the emirate, he said.
Speaking to Defence Magazine Dira' Al Watan (Nation Shield) on the occasion of the opening of the International Defence Exhibition IDEX 2009 today at ADNEC, Sheikh Sultan also said that the support given by the federal government guarantees the requirements of the exhibitions and conferences industry. Vision Abu Dhabi 2030 has embraced this among its top priorities, giving the major events of this kind adequate support.
Dismissing fears of the impact of the global financial crisis on the event he said that IDEX 2009 will be the largest exhibition hosted by Abu Dhabi so far, as every requirement to make it a successful event has been met. ADNEC used to receive applications from world defence manufacturers for participation even until two weeks ago, he noted. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
