IDEX is proof of UAE economic and security stability: CNIA chief
The UAE hosting of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2009) provides an indisputable testimony of the country's stark fame as well as its economic stability and security in comparison to other countries in the Middle East amidst the current global turmoil, H.E Staff Colonel Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA), has said.
''IDEX has attracted hundreds of world defence manufacturers under one roof to showcase their latest defence technology and systems and market them in the Gulf and Middle East market,'' Sheikh Ahmed told the daily bulletin issued by the UAE Armed Forces' Dira' Al Watan magazine at IDEX.
He lauded IDEX as a dynamic engine for the development of the defence industry worldwide as it acts as a platform for displaying the high quality products based on scientific and technological excellence.
''We in the UAE in general and at the CNIA in particular seek to upgrade competence and preparedness of the national defence capabilities in terms of human resources and equipment through attracting foreign know-how and acquiring advanced defence technology to enable these defence and security agencies assume their role of defending and protecting the nation efficiently, he added The CNIA will use IDEX 2009 as a global window to introduce its mission, objectives and strategies it seeks to further establish.
Through its participation at IDEX 2009, the CNIA will be showcasing its achievements in the past two years since establishment in May 2007 as well as its distinct role in safeguarding the economic security and stability of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The CNIA will sponsor the IDEX defence conference which will be launched on the second day of IDEX 2009 as part of its efforts to further develop security and defence knowledge as well as to add to security and defence strategies and the exchange of expertise and information with countries, defence experts worldwide. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
