UAE, Canada discuss agricultural cooperation
Abu Dhabi, Feb. 24, 2009 (WAM) - Secretary General of Municipalities Jasem Mohammed Bin Darwish and Canadian Minister of Food and Agriculture Gerry Ritz discussed yesterday cooperation between UAE and Canada in the fields of food and agriculture.
Ritz is currently on a visit to UAE at the head of a delegation.
Receiving the minister, Bin Darwish hailed the friendly relations between the two countries and stressed the need for bolstering them through continued meetings between the officials in both countries, as well as exchange of expertise in various fields.
Bin Darwish gave the visiting delegation a brief presentation on the role of the General Secretariat of Municipalities for coordinating the activities of various municipalities across the UAE and setting up cooperation with other countries in the region and the world.
He said that among the top priorities of the Secretariat is to ensure safety of food produced domestically or imported from abroad.
Ritz expressed satisfaction over the opportunity in visiting UAE and meeting senior officials to discuss ways for enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
