UAE Ministry of Interior signs contracts worth Dh 117 million
Abu Dhabi, Feb. 24, 2009 (WAM) - The UAE Ministry of Interior signed yesterday two contracts worth Dh117 million during IDEX.
The first Dh75 million contract was signed with EADS Defence '&' Security (DS) calls for preparing a plan for an integrated police security system solution for the Police Forces in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi.
Under the second deal, which worth Dh42 million, Motorola Company will provide Police patrols with advanced cameras capable of transmitting live images to the central operations room.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, said these contracts were part of the ministry's intensive efforts to upgrade and boost the security systems to ensure safety and security of both UAE citizens and expatriate residents.
The ministry also inked a deal with Caracal International, the first UAE light weapon maker, for delivery of 5000 pistols of Caracal signature family. This is the second deal the ministry signed with the UAE company. Caracal pistol is now the service light arm for the ministry personnel.
Major General Nasser Al Nuaimi, Director of the Minister's Office, said the EADs' contract will provide for analysis of threats and security loopholes.
''The system will provide Abu Dhabi Police with advanced intelligence and response capabilities," he added.
