Qatar Faces Iraq Tomorrow in Basketball World Cup Qualifiers

Doha, July 01 (QNA) - Qatar's basketball team will face its Iraqi counterpart Al Gharafa Hall on Monday in the final round of the 2019 World Cup qualifiers in China. The two teams will compete for the third card of Group D qualifier after Iran and Kazakhstan secured their qualification. Qatar is ranked fourth in Group D with six points behind Iran which is leading the group with nine points and Kazakhstan second with eight points while Iraq is third with 7 points. The top three teams from each group will secure the second round, which includes 12 teams, divided into two groups, each with six teams. Three teams from each group qualify in the second round, straight to the 2019 World Cup in China as well as the best team in fourth place. Asia has seven seats in the World Cup in the next qualifying round. Qatar recently participated in the international basketball tripartite tournament in Lebanon as part of preparations for the Asian qualifying for the 2019 World Cup. (QNA)
