Malaysia Draw 1-1 Against QAS In Australian Tour Series
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- The national women's hockey squad only managed a 1-1 draw with the Queensland Academy of Sports (QAS) in their opening match of the Australian Tour Series at Brisbane Hockey Centre Monday.
Both teams scored the goal in the last quarter of the game with Nuraslinda Said being the sole scorer for the national team.
Commenting on the results of the match, the national women's squad coach Muhammad Dharma Raj Abdullah said he was disappointed that the squad failed to take advantage of a penalty corner and a chance to score through the field goal.
“The weakness that needs improvement is the penalty corner shot as well as the ability to score field goals,” said Muhammad Dharma Raj as quoted in the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) website www.mhc.org.my.
He also demanded the squad to be more fierce in their counter-attacks before heading to the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia next month.
Malaysia will face the same squad in a second friendly match at the same venue Tuesday.
The MHC has lined up five Australian Tour Series matches as the squad’s final preparation for the 2018 Asian Games.
