Chin Wins Bronze In World University Wushu Tournament

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) – National junior wushu exponent, Sydney Chin Sy Xuan demonstrated a commandable performance to secure a bronze medal for Malaysia in the opening day of the 2018 FISU World University Wushu Championship in Macau, Thursday. The 19-year-old Melaka-born amassed 9.30 points in the women’s taijiquan, according to the tournament website;www.wushuwuc2018.com. Wang Xiaohui of China and Juanita Mok Uen Ying of Hong Kong, won the gold and silver medal, respectively, after accumulating 9.56 and 9.55 points. Another national wushu exponent, Loh Choon How, however, failed to emulate his compatriot’s feat after finishing in fourth place in the men’s taijijian with 9.40 points in the tournament held at Macau Forum. China won its second medal through Wang Jingshen who amassed 9.53 points, Chong Ka Seng of Macau garnered silver (9.47 points), while Yeung Chung Hei of Hong Kong clinched the bronze with 9.45 points. Three more events would be contested on the second day, Friday involving Changquan, Nangun and Nandao. A total of 114 wushu exponents from 25 countries were taking part in the tournament. -- BERNAMA
