The result saw Malaysia sharing four points with China but China was ranked second in the group A table through extra goals. In the match, China netted the first goal as early as the ninth minute through Liang Meiyu before the Malaysian Tigress equalised the score through ​​​​​​​Hanis Nadia Onn in the 33rd minute. Malaysia took the lead via the second gold by Hanis Nadia at the 44th ​​​​​​​minute but China managed to level the status quo five minutes later after Gu Bingfeng’s goal.
