ASIAD 2018: China Obstructed Malaysia's Victory

By Mazani Mohd Yusoff JAKARTA, Aug 24 (Bernama) – Malaysia failed to clinch further victory in the women’s hockey event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games after a 2-2 draw against China in the group A’s second match at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Stadium here Thursday. The result saw Malaysia sharing four points with China but China was ranked second in the group A table through extra goals. In the match, China netted the first goal as early as the ninth minute through Liang Meiyu before the Malaysian Tigress equalised the score through ​​​​​​​Hanis Nadia Onn in the 33rd minute. Malaysia took the lead via the second gold by Hanis Nadia at the 44th ​​​​​​​minute but China managed to level the status quo five minutes later after Gu Bingfeng’s goal.
