DCCI members export goods worth Dh14.2bn

Goods worth Dh14.2 billion were exported by members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in February, the organisation's Emirates Business quoted the DCCI's monthly report.
About 46,000 certificates of origin were issued by the chamber to exporter members during the month.
The report said 743 new members joined the chamber while 5,909 renewed their membership.
The chamber welcomed 15 international business delegations comprising 346 visitors from Morocco, Korea, Japan, China, Italy, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Brazil and Malaysia.
In addition the chamber received 19 regional and global delegates plus 180 businessmen at the Gulfood 2009 exhibition to discuss the challenges faced by the food and beverages sector. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his ministerial and business delegation attended the UAE-Vietnam Business Forum.
The forum lunch was attended by UAE Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, First Vice-Chairman Majed Hamad Al Shamsi, Director-General Hamad Buamim and members of the business community.
The chamber organised a seminar to raise awareness of the financial challenges and opportunities faced by small and medium-sized enterprise in the presence of five banks and 85 participants.
And the organisation opened a representative office at Dubai Industrial City. The new office joined the Chamber's network across Dubai including its Headquarters in Deira, branches at Dubai Airport Free Zone, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Awir and representative offices at the Dubai Department of Economic Development and Al Twar Centre.
Playing its role of facilitating and creating a favourable business. The chamber organised a series of meetings with a number of working groups that operate under its umbrella. The Print and Publishing, Dubai Tour and Travel Agents and Insurance Business groups held their executive committee elections during the meetings and discussed issues affecting their sectors.
The chamber's Dubai International Arbitration Centre handled 10 cases last month. A roundtable discussion on the UAE Federal Arbitration Law and a workshop on the Arab Centre for the Rule of Law and Integrity's efforts to strengthen commercial law in the UAE were held. The Legal Services Department received 71 cases of which one was settled, three closed and 67 remain under consideration.
The Department of Economic Research released a report on how to make it easier to do business in Dubai, a research project entitled Annual CPI and Inflation Rates for Dubai, 2008, a monthly survey of business leaders regarding current market conditions and forecasts for the coming months.
And it issued 5,000 Rating Reports, a collection of baseline information and ratings on the most active 5,000 Dubai-based enterprises drawn from the chamber's database.
The Center for Responsible Business organised seminars, most notably a seminar on Environmental-friendly Buildings and a CSR Leadership Forum for the Healthcare Industry in association with Johnson & Johnson.
