UAE, Kazakh leaders hold talks
President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan held yesterday a round of talks with visiting President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in the presence of H.H. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The two leaders explored ways of enhancing relations of cooperation between the UAE and Kazakhstan and the possibility of opening up new avenues for joint action and creating opportunities for a true partnership in various sectors.
Sheikh Khalifa and his high profile guest also exchanged views on wide-ranging topics of mutual interest on the regional and international arenas.
The two presidents stressed the need for preserving achievements made by the two friendly countries in different fields. They expressed their hope that peace, security and stability would prevail the world and that countries would manage to ride over the tide of the global financial crisis.
''The visit of the head of state of Kazakhstan to the UAE will positively contribute to bolstering relations of joint cooperation in the sectors as diverse as economy, tourism, sports and culture, and increasing trade exchange and encouraging investment,'' Sheikh Khalifa said.
For his part, the Kazakh President said he was delighted at visiting the UAE and meeting with President Khalifa. He thanked the UAE President for the warm welcome and hospitality.
He also commended the progress made by the UAE under the wise leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, saying the UAE has become an attractive business hub for world companies.
''We are determined to benefit from the UAE expertise in attracting investment and developing of free economic zones. The UAE has made resounding success in these two sectors. It has also achieved qualitative development in construction, economy and tourism,'' he added.
Later, Sheikh Khalifa hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of his guest and his accompanying delegation. A number of Sheikhs, ministers and top officials attended the banquet.
