HH Shaikh Khalid praises BAA award

Manama, Oct. 24 (BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa,  First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the West Asian Athletics Association and President of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA), expressed his utmost pride after BAA won Bahrain Olympic Committee's "The Distinguished Sports Association Award" for the second year running. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa underscored that receiving this prize is the result of support extended by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to the athletics sports as well as the backing of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.  "This award is the fruit of the BAA's unique accomplishments, regionally and internationally in all areas as well as thanks to the efforts of the association management towards providing all forms of support and care to the Bahraini athletics," HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said, adding: "It's a great honour for us to receive such a prestigious prize for the second year in a row thanks to the accomplishments of the Bahraini athletics which have always made us proud, especially in 2016 and 2017, both of which witnessed qualitative achievements, notably winning the gold and silver medals in the 2016 Olympic Games." HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa pointed out that the Bahraini champions in the athletics sports are a source of pride for what the results and displays they are producing in an effort to maintain Bahrain's leading position on the global sports map, stating that the Bahraini runners are the core of this achievement after conquering many podiums. "The Award reflects the professionalism and accurate planning of BAA's work. It represents an extra motivation for us to continue towards many more achievements in the future," HH Shaikh Khalid concluded.
