AirAsia To Prepare Special Flights To Hanoi For AFF Suzuki Cup Finals

KUALA NERUS (Terengganu), Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Harimau Malaya (Malaysian football) supporters will have the opportunity to go to Hanoi (Vietnam) through special AirAsia flights prepared in conjunction with the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup finals on Saturday (Dec 15). AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tony Fernandes said, however, the number of aircraft which will be made available was subject to the approval of Hanoi airport authorities. "It also depends on the demand for flights and the performance of the national team in the first leg on Tuesday (Dec 11)," he said after the 'Executive Talk Air Asia: From Zero to Hero' programme at the Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) here Sunday. The special flights would indirectly help ensure the national squad received the best support to win the title, he added. For the second leg of the semi-finals at the Rajamangala National Stadium recently, AirAsia had provided a special aircraft to ferry Harimau Malaya supporters, especially members of the Ultras Malaya club. Meanwhile, a UniSZA student who attended the programme received three plane tickets – for himself and his parents – to head to Makkah for pilgrimage from Fernandes himself. Muhammad Rizqi Saipul Nizam, 18, a second-year diploma student had earlier asked Fernandes on how to fulfill one's dreams, saying his main goal since he was young was to take his parents to the Holy Land, and that he would often go to the Sultan Mahmud International Airport in Kuala Terengganu to increase his motivation to do so. Inspired by the student's determination and noble wish to help his parents, Fernandes called him up on stage to announce the matter. -- BERNAMA
