HM King’s support for national sports progress hailed

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): The support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and all national sports federations has made key contributions to the sports achievements in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Abdulrahman Askar said. He added that His Majesty’s praising the youth and sports sectors’ achievements in the ‘Gold Year Only’ 2018 is a great honour for both sectors. "I would like to extend our great gratitude to His Majesty the King for his appreciation to the sports achievements of the Kingdom's heroes and champions in various international competitions," said Askar. "Our athletes have made tremendous efforts in fulfilling the aspirations of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa by taking home 197 gold medals in different sports". Askar stressed that the support of His Majesty to the sports sector was the most prominent factor behind these achievements, praising the great attention offered by His Majesty to all athletes. The BOC secretary general added that initiative of Shaikh Nasser, His Majesty’s representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, has inspired the Bahraini youth to achieve more honorable results for the country. "His Highness Shaikh Nasser had made significant contributions and key initiatives in the development of sports in Bahrain, especially in 2018 which has been a very successful and prominent year when our athletes spared no efforts to claim podium in their respective events," said Askar. He said that the current sports boost promises to bring even more successes to the kingdom in line with the support offered to the sports sector from the nation’s leadership.
