Dalai Lama has 'special affinity' for Indian secularism


New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) Tibetan spiritual leader the
Dalai Lama Tuesday said he felt a special affinity towards the
Indian ethos of secularism and respect for all religions and
would throughout his life try and uphold these values.

Praising India for its non-sectarian spirit, he said,
"we are the sons of India as Buddhism originated in India".

"I feel a special affinity towards the non-sectarian
ethos of India and the respect for all religions in this
country," he said during a visit to the Gurudwara Rakabganj
Sahib here.

The Tibetan spiritual leader said that he would
sincerely work towards upholding the values of secularism and
respect for all religions throughout his life.

The Dalai Lama would visit a number of religious places
throughout the day to commemorate the beginning of 50 years of
his exile in India on this day.

He offered prayers at the Gurudwara and was presented
with a 'siropa', a robe of honour. PTI SPC
