Hamdan bin Zayed receives Schroeder

Hanover, 6 April 2009 (WAM) - Deputy prime minister H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan received at his residence in Berlin Dr Gerhard Schroeder, former Chancellor of Germany and the co-chair of the UAE-German Friendship Council (UGFC).
They discussed bilateral ties and ways to boost cooperation in economic, technological, industrial, educational, health and tourism fields. They also reviewed progress of the UGFC.
Sheikh Hamdan said he was impressed with the efforts made by the UGFC members in further strengthening ties between the two countries.
For his part, Schroeder said the two countries managed to build a successful strategic partnership.
Afterwards, Sheikh Hamdan received Prime Minister of North-Rhine Westphalia County Dr. Jurgen Ruttgers and discussed with him means to bolster cooperation in the different fields.
Sheikh Hamdan said there were great potentials for cooperation, given the huge opportunities available for the two sides.
Dr. Ruttgers praised the "deep-rooted" relations and the impressive progress made by the UAE.
Sheikh Hamdan also received UAE ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmoud and members of the embassy in Berlin.
He urged them to provide all facilities and services to the UAE nationals in Germany.
