UAE participates in 2nd Forum of Alliance of Civilisations in Istanbul

Abu Dhabi, April 7, 2009 (WAM) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated in Istanbul yesterday the 2nd Forum of Alliance of Civilisations. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General's High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio, were present at the opening ceremony.
UAE is being represented at the forum by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash.
Other top officials attending the forum include Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic conference, Dr. Ikmaludeen Ehasan Ogloo, Wife of the Emiri of Qatar, Shaikha Moza Al-Musnad, Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa, and many others forming over 400 guests at the forum, which will discuss opportunities for alliance among civilisations to end the existing problems among the peoples of the world and to build positive interaction between the Muslim world and the West through constructive dialogue aimed at bridging the gap between the two sides.
US President Barack Obama, will join and address the forum today.
