Threat level in India 'pretty high': Home Minister

New Delhi, Apr 10 (PTI) The threat level in India is
"pretty high" with four Pakistan-based terror outfits "working
in consort" and there has been mention of Taliban in
intercepts of their conversation, Home Minister P Chidambaram
disclosed Friday.

He said the four terrorist organisations -- Lashker-e-
Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Jamat-ul-Mujahideen
(JuM) and Hizbul Mujahideen -- were earlier operating
separately but have come together now and intercepts of its
cadres' conversations have mention of Taliban.

"We simply have to keep our powder dry. Make sure that
we remain on high alert because four organisations are working
in concort. That means the level of threat is pretty high," he
told private television channel NDTV.

"I don't think anyone has captured anyone to identify
him as a Taliban. All that we know is that there is a serious
attempt to infiltrate into India," the Home Minister said.

He was responding to a question about reports that
about 30 Taliban terrorists have entered Kashmir.

Chidambaram said the government does not know who is
directing them and it is too early to draw conclusions. "Is it
the ISI? Is it another state agency? Or is it a non-state
player? Is it the Taliban? It is too earlty to say."

The Minister said the word Taliban has oocured in that
conversations but "at the moment we cannot draw any
conclusions". PTI SJY
