UAE publishing scene is vibrant, says Sultan
London, April 21, 2009 (WAM) - Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi paid a visit to London International Book Fair, which opened on Monday and would continue till April 22 according to a report in 'The Gulf Today'. The UAE is participating vigorously in the fair where all UAE's major cultural foundations are represented.
Sheikh Sultan visited the stands of the UAE foundations including that of the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information where he was received by Abdullah Al Owais, director general of the department, Ahmed Bin Rakad, director of Sharjah International Book Fair, and senior officials representing the UAE cultural foundations.
Hailing the UAE's distinguished presence in the fair, Sheikh Sultan said the UAE is currently occupying a superb position in the publishing and translation movement and is playing a key role in supporting the Arab publishing movement in terms of joint projects with leading publishers and securing points for marketing books in general through the various book fair organised in the UAE including Sharjah International Book Fair.
Sheikh Sultan said the UAE achievements in this field come as part of a methodological vision that is constantly developing, giving a positive effect on the typical releases and the technological level of books.
