RCA spent Dh6.3 million in construction projects last year

The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) carried out 51 construction projects last year as part of its local humanitarian services plan to support low-income and underprivileged segments.
Sana Darwish Al Kitbi, Acting Chairman of the RCA, said some Dh 6.3 million, donated by local philanthropists and firms, were channelled into projects for building and renovating residential units and mosques.
“These projects, part of the third charity beings at home campaign, were undertaken in response to directives by the leaders of the country for providing needy persons with decent life, easing their suffering and improving their living conditions,” she said.
The RCA teams, she said, had conducted field visits to the beneficiaries to assess their real conditions before they renovated their houses. Apart from financial assistance, she noted the RCA social workers had visited these families to show solidarity with them and offer psychological support to raise their morale so as to help them withstand their hard conditions.
Elaborating on these projects, Ibrahim Al Hamadi, Deputy RCA Secretary General, said the RCA engineering committee maintained and expanded 42 houses of poor families in the tune of Dh 4.3 million. “Around Dh 2 million were spent to renovate mosques and built five new worshiping houses,” he said.
