President of Burkina Faso receives UAE FM
Ouagadougou - April 26, 2009 (WAM) - President of Burkina Faso Blaise Compaore on Friday received UAE Foreign Minister H.H Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed al-Nahyan who is on a current tour to Africa.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to Compaore greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his best wishes for the people of Burkina Faso of progress and prosperity.
For his part, President Compaore asked Sheikh Abdullah to reciprocate greetings to Sheikh Khalifa stressing his country's keen interest on promoting bilateral relations with the UAE.
At the meeting which was attended by UAE Minister of State Reem al-Hashmi and UAE Ambassador to Sudan the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations as well as issues of common concern to the two countries.
Sheikh Abdullah and Burkina Faso's Minister of Foreign Affairs '&' Regional Cooperation Bedouma Alain Yoda, at a press conference held here later, underscored the promotion of relations between their countries, consolations and the exchange of perspectives on current international issues. They also underscored the activation of Arab-African dialogue and the support to development projects in needy countries, in particular those aimed at improving the humanitarian conditions for women and children.
Later, Sheikh Abdullah and members of the accompanying delegation attended a banquet hosted by Minister Yoda.
