RCA medical team performs 12 surgeries on the first day of its mission in Somalia

Hargeysa, Somalia - The medical team sent by UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to Somalia to treat curable blindness performed 12 surgeries on the first day of its mission.
The team camping in the north-western city of Hargeysa is rekindling hope to see the light again among those who had lost their sights since several years.
People from villages and cities flocked the medical camp to benefit from the services the RCA delegation is providing to treat blindness and other eye disorders. The RCA mission has set up all the modern equipments for achieving accurate diagnosis and giving best treatment.
The team of expert medics and paramedics is led by Dr. Saleh Moosa Al Thae, Assistant Secretary General for Relief and Projects at the RCA. The delegation includes a number of renowned ophthalmologists and surgeons.
The medical camp for free treatment at the Hargeysa Hospital was launched in the presence of several officials in the country. The initiative has been received with wide popular acclaim in the country.
Responding to hundreds of cheering people who came to the venue seeking treatment, RCA announced that an additional camp has been opened at the Manhal Hospital in the city to give service to more people who needed treatment.
The humanitarian mission of RCA is made possible by the people of UAE as part of their contribution to help their brothers in Somalia as well as an expression of human solidarity, noted Dr. Thae.
