Agreement signed to build Dh100m Sheikh Khalifa City in Yemen

Sana'a - May 6, 2009 (WAM) In keeping with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an agreement was signed here yesterday for construction of the Sheikh Khalifa Housing City for the people affected by the floods that hit the Yemeni provinces of Hadramout and Al Mahra.
The Dh100 million - project is being implemented under the supervision of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (UAE). It entails construction of 1,000 houses with educational facilities and other amenities.
The agreement was signed by Ali Saif Al Nasseri, RCA board member, and Abdul Karim Ismael Al Arhabi, Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. The Yemeni minister expressed gratitude of the government and people of Yemen to Sheikh Khalifa's initiative.
"Such initiative is not new to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is following the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in standing by the people of Yemen in the times of joy and difficulty," Al Arhabi said.
Al Nasseri pledged RCA's continuous humanitarian support to the people of Yemen.
"The Sheikh Khalifa Housing City is part of a large scale humanitarian and relief programme implemented by the RCA in Yemen. The Authority is currently executing development projects in Yemen worth over Dh84 million," he added.
