Nahyan Bin Mubarak: No solution for Palestinian problem without solving the fundamental issues
Abu Dhabi, May 10, 2009 (WAM) - No solution for the Palestinian issue will be achieved without finding just solutions for the fundamental problems, which are not connected to the 1967 aggression, but are the consequences of the Nakba of 1948 and before, said UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
Addressing the Ninth Annual Conference of the Al-Khaleej Centre for Studies, Sheikh Nahyan stressed that the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has always stood beside the people of Palestine and the just Palestinian issue.
“HH the President has always been assuring us, in words and deeds, that the Palestinian issue is the issue of all Arabs', said Sheikh Nahyan. The minister added that the UAE is keen on positioning itself in the forefront in defending the Arab issues, the first of which is the issue of the beloved Palestine.
“We in the UAE also do whatever we can do in the cause of supporting the Palestinian people and helping them to regain every bit of their legitimate rights, Sheikh Nahyan said.
Inaugurating the annual conference at the Al-Khaleej Printing and Publishing House in Sharjah, Sheikh Nahyan hailed the power and unmatched determination of the People of Palestine, who withstood since the beginning of the last century, all attacks aimed at wiping out their existence from their own lands.
Arabs chose the way of peace as the means to find just solution for the Palestinian issue, but there is great difference between the Arab and Israeli concepts of peace, said Sheikh Nahyan.
Addressing the conference, which was attended by Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of the board of 'Dar-el Khaleej', and a galaxy of writers, thinkers and media persons, Sheikh Nahyan called for working to achieve Arab national unity to gain power and necessary strength.
The solution of Palestinian issue is the gateway to peace and prosperity in the entire region, the future of which is shaped by the position of the Arabs and their powerful participation in the global march, asserted Sheikh Nahyan.
In his speech Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam said that the weakness of the Arabs and divisions in the ranks of the Palestinians will negatively influence the international support for the Palestinian cause.
He thanked President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for their commitment to the support of the Palestinian cause.
