Greek President receives Sheikha Lubna
Athens - May 10, 2009 (WAM) - President Karolos Papoulias of Greece welcomed yesterday visiting UAE Minister of Foreign Trade H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi for talks over ways of enhancing relations between the two friendly countries.
The Greek head of state said he was satisfied with the progress of economic relations with the UAE, praising the UAE as a bright model for economic diversification in the world. “The two countries have huge potentials for joint cooperation,” he said. He expressed his country's determination to maximise efforts for the sake of bolstering political and economic relations with the UAE.
For her part, Sheikha Lubna affirmed that challenges should be addressed to further boost bilateral economic cooperation for serving mutual interest. “The UAE is keen to spur private sector in the two countries to establish joint ventures given the huge investment opportunities under increasingly growing economies,” she added.
The UAE minister briefed the Greek President on the latest economic developments in the UAE and the government plans to develop non-oil economies, conserve the environment and achieve sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Sheikha Lubna met with Foreign Minister Ms. Dora Bakoyannis to discuss aspects of joint cooperation. The two ministers exchanged views on mechanisms for boosting trade exchange.
