French Defence Minister hails UAE's balanced policy

French Defence Minister Herve Morin stressed his country's keenness for enhancing avenues of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.
We are working to further develop our relations with the UAE, a country which enjoys high credibility in its relations and cooperation with us and holds a distinguished position on the international level, thanks to its balanced policy that stresses the importance of work and contribution in achieving international security and stability, the French minister said.
In an interview with the Al-Arabiya news satellite channel, Morin told Abdullah Al Mutawa that the opening of the Peace Naval Camp in Abu Dhabi heralds a new phase of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the joint defence agreement signed earlier.
He stressed that the Peace Naval Camp assumes paramount importance in view of the maritime security France shoulders in the region and the world countries. The piracy off the coast of Somalia encourages us to think about fortifying maritime security in the future through combating that phenomenon, Morin said. “The task of the Naval 'Camp Peace' is to support our forces in the Indian Ocean and to develop military cooperation with UAE', the French minister stressed.
