Gargash, Peruvian FM explore ways of boosting bilateral bonds

Lima - Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde reviewed with visiting UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash ways enhancing bilateral relations.
The two ministers exchanged views on a wide range of regional and international topics of mutual concern. Peru's hosting of the Arab-Latin American summit in 2011 were also discussed.
Dr. Gargash praised the progress of relations between the two friendly countries, pointing out to the wide prospects for further boosting them in trade and economy. He stressed the need for removing obstacles hindering the progress of these bonds.
The Peruvian foreign minister hoped the bilateral relations would scale new heights. He also highlighted the UAE investment in Peru the most important of them were the 30 year concession won by Global marine terminal operator DP World to develop and operate a new container terminal in the southern zone of the Port of Callao, Peru.
Dr. Gargash attended a luncheon banquet hosted by the Peruvian foreign ministry in his honour and his accompanying delegation and attended by top Peruvian officials.
Meanwhile, the UAE minister met with Peruvian Environment Minister Antonio Brack for discussion on efforts being made to conserve and develop the environment and use of clean energy in the two countries.
During the meeting, the Peruvian minister gave a presentation on Peru's policy to save the vast Amazon forests on its soil.
Later, Dr. Gargash toured the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology, and History of Peru to acquaint himself with the Peruvian culture and heritage.
Peru was the last leg of Gargash's whirl tour of Latin America which took him to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile. The tour aimed at boosting UAE's relations with Latin American countries.
