UAE's supreme legislative body invites public opinion on draft bills

In an unprecedented move, the Federal National Council (FNC), the UAE's apex legislative body, has created an opportunity for the citizens, as well as for all those with an interest in the legal development of the country, to express their views on the draft laws on the anvil.
FNC is planning to open a window on its web portal, where people can preview the laws in the pipeline and express their critical thoughts, opinions and suggestions before the Council discuss them in its ad-hoc committees.
FNC Speaker Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair said that this service will commence shortly with the publication of the 'Marriage Fund' draft law on the web portal as the Council is preparing to discuss this law along with its amendments. The people will be given adequate time to learn this law, so that their participation in the legal formulation will be more effective, assured Al Ghurair.
The FNC specially selected this draft bill to inaugurate the public discussion due its paramount importance in relation to the life of the citizens, said the Speaker.
He said that this move comes in line with the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for setting up an unfailing rapport between FNC and the citizens.
