UAE Economy Minister discuss cooperation Portuguese counterpart

UAE Economy Minister HE Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and Portuguese Economy and Innovation Minister Manuel Pinho, discussed cooperation ties between the two countries and ways to boost them in all sectors and fields.
Al Mansouri stressed in a meeting held here in his office that the UAE government was heading to support the innovative economic projects to boost competitive capacity of the national economy on the regional and international levels. He added that the UAE was able to cope with repercussions of the World Financial Crisis.
He stressed the significance of relations between the UAE and Portugal, adding that there was a need to exchange expertise in all vital fields, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, industry and tourism.
The two sides discussed the impacts of the global financial crunch on their economies, as well as the precautionary measures taken by the two countries to curb its effects.
On his part, the Portuguese official said that his country was ready to cooperate with the UAE in different fields, hailing the strength of the UAE economy. He added that major Portuguese companies were eyeing the investment opportunities in the UAE. The volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Portugal stood at US$124million in 2008.
