UK Minister of Homeland Security visits Dubai Customs
Ahmed Batti Ahmed, Director General of Dubai Customs and Lord West of Spithead, UK Homeland Security Minister discussed on Monday cooperation between Dubai Customs and the UK Customs . The minister, accompanied by British Consul General in Dubai Guy Warrington, and Cameron Walker, Councillor of Law Enforcement paid a visit to the Dubai Customs headquarters.
The purpose of the visit was to further the strategic dialogue between Dubai Customs and HM Revenue '&' Customs in the UK, to build bridges between both sides in various fields and to strengthen their mutual relationship in order to serve shared interests.
The two sides also discussed bilateral co-operation for combating illegal trade through the use of the latest technologies; expertise exchange between the two countries; mutual capacity building initiatives and the enforcement of restrictions and prohibitions through 'Risk Based' Port Controls.
The British Minister praised the advanced tools and high-tech equipment used by Dubai Customs at all its ports, crossings and other facilities. He also commended the Department's extensive expertise in various fields which can be useful and beneficial for future cooperation.
