UAE cements relations with African countries

Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has said that his recent tour of a number of African countries was within the framework of keeping in touch with friendly countries to boost avenues of cooperation between the UAE and those countries.
Sheikh Abdullah was speaking at the end of his tour of a number of African countries, including Cameroun, Central Africa Republic, Sierra Leone, Lesotho, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia. He was accompanied on the tour by a delegation made up of Minister of State, Reem Ibrahim Al-Hashimi, UAE Ambassador to South Africa, Ismael Obaid Al-Ali, Director of Foreign Ministry's Department of Asian Affairs, Isa Abdullah Al-Basha, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi, representatives of UAE Red Crescent Authority and other UAE officials.
The UAE Foreign Minister conveyed to the heads of states of the countries he visited greetings from President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and their wishes of more progress and prosperity for those countries and their peoples. He also assured them of the UAE's commitment to boost relations of cooperation and friendship with their respective countries by increasing the volume of investment in and encouraging UAE investors to those countries.
Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE and African countries are bound by very strong relations in various areas, adding that the UAE's wise leadership is committed to identifying in African countries areas of opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the field of economy, trade and investment. "We have identified during our tour of these African countries their needs which we have already forwarded to the concerned bodies in our country," he said, adding that Africa abounds with vast investment opportunities.
He expressed the hope that the visit would help boost relations of friendship and joint cooperation with African countries to ambitious levels.
