Muslims told to eat meat slaughtered after reading Bismillah

Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), June 16 (PTI) India's
leading Islamic seminary Darul-Uloom Deoband has ruled that
Muslims should consume meat of an animal which has only been
slaughtered by community members after reading Bismillah.

"Reading Bismilla while slaughtering an animal is a must
for a Muslim during the 'Jiba' (slaughter) in a meat factory.
Meat slaughtered without reading Bismilla is 'Haram'
(prohibited) according to Shariat law," Mufti Habibur Rehman,
in-charge of the Fatwa department of the seminary said.

The Fatwa was issued after a query from a local resident
whether a Muslim could consume the meat from a factory where
the animal has been slaughtered without reading Bismilla. PTI
