Sea-mining firm to be set up
Dubai, June 29, 2009 (WAM) - TechnoPark has signed a land lease agreement with First Sea Mining Factory to set up the first sea-mining company in Dubai. TechnoPark is the science and technology facilitator of Economic Zones World according to a report in Emirates Business.
First Sea Mining Factory, which uses cutting-edge technology from IES Germany, will implement advanced seawater recycling technology, which will end pollution caused by brine discharges from seawater desalination plants. The setting up of the firm is a step towards ecological preservation of the UAE's seawater resources and its fishing sector.
Martin Padisak, Chairman and CEO of IES Germany, said: "We are proud to be the first in the world in sea mining. Now, this is happening in Dubai, and it is also the first time in human history, when harmful industrial waste from sea-water desalination plants is recycled for financial benefit, keeping the balance of the marine environment."
