UAE scores well in governance, report
Abu Dhabi, July 1, 2009 (WAM) - Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI), has appreciated governance in UAE and ranked it among the top countries on the Control of Corruption. The UAE scored 90 out of 100 on the upper scale. A leading English language local newspaper quoting report says that UAE also scored pretty well on the government effectiveness rankings, being placed in the 75-90 percentile while it scored reasonably well on rule of law, regulatory quality and political stability and absence of violence.
The UAE was in 10-15 percentiles on the voice and accountability parameter of the WGI, says Emirates Business 24|7. The indicators cover 212 countries and territories, drawing together hundreds of variables from 35 different data sources to capture the views of tens of thousands of survey respondents worldwide, as well as thousands of experts in the private, NGO, and public sectors.
