Khalifa Foundation, Oxfam join forces to launch relief programme in Afghanistan
Abu Dhabi, July 1, 2009 (WAM) - The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation has entered into a partnership agreement with Oxfam GB to fund a series of relief and development projects in sectors of health, water, public health and food security in Afghanistan.
Oxfam International is a confederation of 13 like-minded organizations working together and with partners and allies around the world to bring about lasting change. It works directly with communities and it seeks to influence the powerful to ensure that poor people can improve their lives and livelihoods. Its mission is to find out how it can work with others to end poverty and injustice, from campaigning to responding to emergencies.
The agreement was signed by Mohammed Haji Khoury, Executive Director of Khalifa of Khalifa Foundation, and Orla Quinlan, Director of Programme Funding, Oxfam GB, in the presence of Grace Ommer, Country Director Afghanistan, Oxfam GB.
