The first Korean language textbook (L) published in 1945 following Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula, "The First Step to the Korean Language," is on display at the Textbook Museum in Sejong, central South Korea, on Oct. 6, 2026, three days ahead of the centennial of the designation of Hangeul Day and the 580th anniversary of the invention of the Korean alphabet, called Hangeul and invented in the 15th century by King Sejong, the fourth monarch of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
