Reem makes waves as flooding of marina commences at Najmat, Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, July 26, 2009 (WAM) - A significant milestone in the creation of Abu Dhabi's new urban waterside living project was achieved as Reem Developers, a subsidiary of Reem Investments, commenced flooding of the first man-made marina in Reem Island.
The ceremony officiated by H.E. Abdulhamid Saeed, Managing Director of Reem Investments, marked the inundation of 355,000 million cubic metres of water into the marina which measures 250 meters wide in diameter. The entire process will take less than 30 days to complete.
Marina@Najmat is a unique centrepiece of Najmat, the Star of Abu Dhabi, an iconic master plan development on Reem Island. The beautiful five hectare berthing area for yachts and luxury boats forming a picturesque focus for the surrounding communities is expected to take up to 170 berths ranging in length from 7 to 18 metres.
Marina@Najmat will enhance Reem Island's appeal as one of the most attractive, vibrant and compelling lifestyle destinations in the region. The marina will feature two exquisite hotels with boardwalks and ample berthing space in addition to waterfront shops, cafes, restaurants and public art galleries.
Najmat Abu Dhabi occupies the prime seafront of Reem Island - a special investment zone - and the marina, canal and water features are designed to ensure that all residents enjoy the waterfront. Environmental concerns are addressed through water flushing and safeguards for marine life. These features make it one of the best waterfront developments in the region.
