BOEING 747 VS PORSCHE CAR RACE IN SINGAPORE

BY ZAKARIA ABDUL WAHAB

SINGAPORE, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Fancy a race between a car and a jumbo
airliner?

Well, this is what Changi Airport Group (CAG) has on its cards to celebrate
the Singapore F1 GP season come this September.

CAG is pitting a Porsche Carrera Cup race car against a Boeing 747 aircraft
from Singapore carrier, Jett8 Airlines, to determine the speed king of the
tarmac on Sept 5.

Singapore Changi Airport is holding a month long race-related activities in
conjunction with its Changi GP Festival, starting with the Changi Airport Race,
the first-ever jetliner versus car race in Asia.

Two hundred grandstand tickets are up for grabs for fans who wish to
experience the race up close on the tarmac of Changi Airport, according to
CAG in a statement.

Members of the public who spend a minimum of $30 in a single receipt at
Changi Airport Terminals 1, 2 or 3 this week until this Sunday will qualify for
a lucky draw to win a pair of tickets.

Besides the grandstand tickets, another 500 tickets will be available for an
exclusive live screening of the race at the public area of Terminal 3.

The Porsche car taking part in the race will be on display at Terminal 3's
departure hall for a week from Wednesday until Aug 26.

On race day, Porsche will also launch its new Porsche 911 GT3 at Changi
Airport.
