A new world-class sports complex has opened in Kokshetau
Kokshetau, August 24 2009, Khabar - According to athletes, it has all the necessary conditions for professional training. Now, Kokshetau will be able to hold competitions of both republic-wide and international scales. The new sports facility’s infrastructure of an area amounting to 28 thousand square meters includes a 50-meter Olympic pool built for 8 lanes, a skating rink, and halls for wrestling, physical training, and fitness sessions.
Dmitriy Legkov, Kokshetau resident:
- Previously, we used to carry out hockey training sessions only in winter and laid the ice surface. We traveled a lot across the entire Kazakhstan and Karaganda to take part in competitions. Now, we will be training all year round.
Andrei Rymanov, director of “Burabay” sport complex:
- The “Arlan” hockey team has already been formed. It will participate in Kazakhstan’s ice hockey championship. We are planning to develop figure skating, short track, synchronized swimming, and swimming; thus, those main types of sport which are not being cultivated in Kokshetau yet.
