DMI offers US$1m for best drama programme
Dubai, Aug 30, 2009 (WAM) - The best drama programme broadcast on the channels of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) during the Ramadan period of 2009 will win US$1 million (Dh3.67m). The move is as per the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
DMI has launched the Dubai Arab Drama Award to encourage local, GCC and Arab drama on the DMI's channels.
"Definitely, the award is regarded a thank-you message to all dramatic works and series broadcast by DMI during Ramadan," said Ahmed Abdullah Al Sheikh, Media Escort to Sheikh Mohammed and Managing Director of DMI. A mass survey will be conducted to vote for the best dramatic work.
