Kudrin to meet IMF chief to discuss financial aid coordination in CIS, EurAsEC

ISTANBUL, October 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Vice Prime Minister and
Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin plans to meet IMF chief Dominique
Strauss-Kahn in order to discuss the coordination of financial aid in the
CIS and EurAsEC area.
"We intend to discuss the details of the IMF reform and possible
coordination of our actions under our anti-crisis programme in the CIS and
EurAsEC. We would like to coordinate our activities with the World Bank
and the Fund [IMF] to a certain extent in order to achieve the best
possible results," a source in the Russian delegation told Itar-Tass.
He did not rule out that Kudrin and Straus-Kahn might also discuss
Ukraine that has a cooperation programme with the IMF.
The Russian finance minister also plans to meet his Turkish, Serbian
and Bulgarian counterparts and World Bank President Robert Zoellick. He is
scheduled to confer separately with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy
Geithner.
Kudrin will attend a meeting of the G8 finance ministers and
participate in all discussions except for a discussion on the G7 algorithm
and prospects. "We will not attend that," the official said.
At the same time, Kudrin will participate in the discussion of the
future regulation of the financial system. A reform of the IMF quota
system will be discussed at a dinner to be given by the IMF
managing-director on Saturday evening.
"Pressing aspects of the IMF reform will be raised at the dinner one
way or another," the official said.
The International Finance Committee and the World Bank Board of
Governors will hold their meetings in the subsequent days.
