Finnish business delegation to visit Arkhangelsk region

HELSINKI, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - To promote new opportunities for
Russo-Finnish cooperation in the fields of energy, ecology, logistics, and
shipbuilding will be the purpose of a visit to Arkhanglesk region by a
Finnish widely representative business delegation led by Paavo Vayrynen,
Minister of ForeignTrade and Development. The delegation arrives in
Arkhangelsk on Tuesday.
An official at Finland's Foreign Ministry has told Itar-Tass that the
delegation includes executives of 15 large Finnish companies which
represent various branches of the economy and which are interested in
developing joint projects with Russia's northern areas.
During a three-day visit, Paavo Vayrynen is to meet with the
leadership of the Arkhangelsk region, and get acquainted with the region's
economy. The Finnish delegation is to tour shipbuilding enterprises in
Severodvinsk.

AVTOVAZ to display newest eqt at Samara show Tue.

SAMARA, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - AVTOVAZ is to display the newest
equipment at the 8th international specialised Industrial Show opening
here on Tuesday, the AVTOVAZ press service announced.
The highlight of the exhibition will be an original machining center,
fitted out with numerical programme controls and designed to perform
milling, drilling and other operations. Both custombuilt components and
serially produced ones can be made by means of this small-size equipment.
AVTOVAZ is also to display an industrial robot, provided with a
welding tooling, with a lifting capacity of 150 kilogrammes. Upon
appropriate replacements of tooling, the robot can be used for cutting,
the application of glue, mastic, and sealing compounds, and the movement
of loads.
The press service of AVTOVAZ points out, "AVTOVAZ is now the only
Russian enterprise that has retained potential for the development and
manufacture of the most elaborate technological equipment. The
presentation of the new machining center is an indication that even in the
light of decline in the manufacture of cars, the factory's machinetool
building plant continues to develop, which in future will make it possible
quickly to renew the automobile model range of the enterprise".

.Canada parl' delegation to discuss econ contacts with RF.

OTTAWA, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - A Canadian parliamentary delegation is
to visit Russia this week to discuss conditions for the activities of
Canadian businessmen in Russia and Russian ones in Canada, Senator
Consiglio Di Nino, leader of the delegation, has told Itar-Tass.
In particular, the delegaiton members are to touch upon the problems
of the oil and gas industries, and the energy sector during meetings with
Russian parliamentarians, members of the business community, and during a
tour of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area.
The Canadian Senator pointedout, "Russsia is one of the most
influential countries in the world. Substantial changes have come about in
Russia in recent years and, accordingly, its role in the world grows as
well. We hope that our visit will serve to further contacts".
Consiglio Di NIno emphasized that while in Moscow the delegation
members are sure to touch upon matters concerning the Arctic. Next year's
forthcoming presidency of Canada in the Group of Eight will beprobably
discussed as well, he added.

.ROSNANO, Perm Territory to sign cooperation accord.

PERM, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - The ROSNANO State Corporation and the
Perm Territory are to sign an agreement on cooperation on Tuesday with a
view to creating conditions for a priority innovation development of the
area.
An official in the press service of the Territorial government has
announced that the document will be signed within the scope of the 2nd
international forum on nanotechnologies in Moscow where the Perm Territory
will feature its display stand with advanced development products of
regional enterprises and research groups.
The Perm Territory is the first Russian region, with which ROSNANO
implements a separate cooperation programme the purpose of which is to
bring the Perm Territory into the lead in both the use of nanotechnologies
in industry and the use of nanotechnology product in practice.
A ROSNANO project office opened here in July. The task of the office,
set up on the basis of the Territorial foundation for assistance to
venture investments in small enterprises of the science and technology
sector, is to help enterprises to prepare projects that could seek the
Corporation's support. Thirteen enterprises in the region have already
made applications for the financing of projects.
ROSNANO also plans to set up in Perm Territory a system to stimulate
demand for nanotechnology products and services. With this end in view,
the Corporation will study the established practice of purchases, analyse
factors that prevent state and municipal customers from purchasing
nanotechnology products.
In conjunction with the PermTerritory government, ROSNANO is preparing
to work out a plan for joint actions to resolve problems in this respect.
The Corporation has already announced selection of organisations to render
consulting services on these subjects.
