DPRK seeks denuclearisation of Korean Peninsula--Kim
PYONGYANG, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - The Democratic People's Republic of
Korea (DPRK) strives for denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, leader
of the people's republic Kim Jong Il had said here during talks with Wen
Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China,
the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday. The Norht
Korean leader said that to denuclearise the Korean Peninusla is a behest
of Kim Il Sung, the founder and "Everlasting President" of the DPRK.
Kim Jong Il emphasized that Pyongyang was prepared to participate in
multilateral consultations on the nuclear problem, including those in the
six-country format, but only after talks between the DPRK and the United
States. "Through a bilateral dialogue (between Pyongyang and Washington)
it is essential to convert the hostile relations between the DPRK and the
US into peaceful contacts," Kim Jong Il said.
KCNA reports that the talks between the North Korean leader and Wen
Jiabao were held "in a friendly atmosphere". Taking part in the meeting on
the North Korean side were also First Deputy Foreign Minister Kang Sok Ju,
Kim Yang Gong, departmental chief at the Central Committee of the Korean
Workers' Party, and Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Yong Il.
