Skorean drilling rig delivered to Kamchatka.

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, June 3 (Itar-Tass) -- a Dusung semi-submerged drilling rig has been delivered from South Korea to the KamchatkaPeninsula. It will be used for oil prospecting at the Kamchatka shelf.

During the summer of 2008 it is to drill two wells at the West Sukhanovo and North Krutogorovo sections, off the western coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula.

The Dusung drilling rig has been delivered from the port of Pusan,South Korea, where it was adjusted for working in conditions of the West Kamchatka shelf, the press service of the Kamchatkaneftegaz Company reported on Monday.

Five transport tugboats will be used during thedrilling of the wells, together with the drilling rig.

The specialized Agat boat, registered in Sakhalin, will stay in the drilling area on a round-the-clock basis for preventing and eliminating a possible oil spill. The drilling will go together with an ecological monitoring programme, due to be implemented by specialists from Kamchatka and Sakhalin. Some 100 contracts were signed in 2008 for implementing the project of prospecting oil drilling at the West Kamchatka shelf, mostly with Kamchatka and Magadan enterprises.

The geological prospecting of the West Kamchatka shelf is being done by the Rosneft Company jointly with K.K. Korea Kamchatka Company, which is a consortium of South Korean firms. 60 per cent of shares in the project belong to Rosneft and 40 per cent - to the Korean consortium.

Kamchatkaneftegaz is the operator of the project.
