Ukraine demands revision of memorandum with Russian N-corp.

KIEV, December 16 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine has demanded a revision of the
draft memorandum on cooperation in the field of geological prospecting,
mining and processing of uranium ore that was signed by Ukraine and the
Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom previously.
Bogdan Sokolovsky, President Viktor Yushchenko's representative for
international energy security issues said Tuesday night the President
"gave an instruction to analyze within 24 hours the draft memorandum from
the angle of its conformity to Ukraine's national interests and effective
legislation."
According to Sokolovsky, the Yushchenko administration feels uneasy
about Rosatom's priority position in developing the Ukrainian
government-controlled Novokonstantinovsky deposit in the country's central
Kirovograd region.
