Abu Dhabi DED issues 1,124 business licences in November
Abu Dhabi, Dec 27, 2009 (WAM) - The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) issued about 1,124 business licences in November. These included 946 trade licences, 162 handicraft licences and 16 vocational licences.
The total number of licences registered over the past 11 months has gone up to 11,711. The number of licences registered in the emirate until the end of last year is more than 146, 000.
The Abu Dhabi DED confiscated during current year more than 11, 000 pieces of counterfeit goods. Most of them are related to electrical appliances, auto spare parts and beautification products, which Abu Dhabi DED will spoil them soon.
Abu Dhabi DED's Control and Inspection Section conducted 10, 706 field visits in November, in which 179 warnings were issued. Abu Dhabi city had the biggest share of these visits with 338, while Al Mussaffah area had the biggest share of warnings with 103.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi DED's Consumer Protection Sector implemented in November 1947 field visits to shops and malls where 32 warnings were issued. An index of prices along with an approved list of shops that announced discounts with approved percentages are issued.
Hamad Salem Lekharebani Al Nuaimi, Executive Director for Commercial Affairs at Abu Dhabi DED, said when Abu Dhabi DED's Abu Dhabi Business Centre starts operations, the process of licence issuance will witness quality changes in terms of administrative measures, which will facilitate the issuance of licenses by businessmen in a short time without need to visit other concerned bodies.
Al Nuaimi said November's index of commercial affairs sector indicates to continual demand for getting various trade activities by UAE national and foreign businessmen. Abu Dhabi DED completed many procedures during preparation for the launch of new business centre through signing MoUs with federal and local government bodies to make the centre the only window for the issuance of business licences.
