Hilary Clinton congratulates Sheikh Mohammed on opening of Burj Dubai
Dubai, Jan 5, 2010 (WAM)- The US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has sent a special message of felicitation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the unveiling of Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower.
In a letter to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, the Secretary of State also congratulated H.H, for the creation of Dubai Forum as a platform for focused discussions on sustainable development in the UAE.
In her message, Mrs. Clinton said: "Your efforts to create international cooperation in our global economy are an important endeavour. I applaud your commitment to sustainable development."
Established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, the Dubai Forum will kick off on 5 January at the Address Hotel in Dubai. Bringing together more than 50 leading architects, architectural critics and foreign media from 15 countries, the event will open with a session on ‘Architecture and Sustainable Societies'.
Mona Al Marri, Chief Executive Office of Brand Dubai, said: "Dubai has always been the first to introduce initiatives and ideas that contribute to the development of communities, locally or regionally. The Dubai Forum will enhance the status of the emirate and confirms its resolute commitment to achieving innovation and excellence." The Dubai Forum will comprise dedicated panel discussions on citizenship and migration; technology and innovation; current research areas; engineering and natural forces in the context of climate change; energy depletion and population explosion; architecture and rapid urbanization; growth of architecture as art and engineering in the Middle East; and cultural identity and architectural development in poor societies.
The Dubai Forum aims to organize several sessions during the course of the year on topics of relevance to Dubai. The outcomes of these sessions will be compiled in an anthology for distribution among scholars, students, policy makers and the general public.
