Mohammed bin Rashid opens Burj Khalifa

Dubai, Jan 5, 2010 (WAM)- Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated in Dubai yesterday evening, Burj Khalifa, the tallest edifice ever built by man on earth.
Sheikh Mohammed unveiled at the site the commemorative plaque engraved with the name 'Burj Khalifa' to the thundering applause and cheer of the gathering who congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on this magnanimous achievement in the nation's march of civilisation.
Beyond the imagination of every person who waited for this rare moment in history, the tower was named after HH Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE.
The inauguration of the tallest tower built by man on earth coincided with the fourth anniversary of the accession of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to power in the emirate of Dubai.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region and a number of other Sheikhs.
Sheikh Mohammed further noted that huge projects were still being developed in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi.
"This is yet another proof that our national economy is robust and that our leadership, institutions and private sector are capable of surmounting difficulties and confronting challenges with resolution, fearlessness and confidence. We are able to confront any challenge or crisis, regardless of their magnitude."
"True leaders," he went on, "prove themselves by the way the deal with crises. Thanks to Allah the Almighty, we have the will power, the wise leadership, the strong belief in Allah the Almighty, the faith in our people's capabilities and the patience when the things get hard."
