UAE Ministry of Interior discusses ways of protecting victims of human trafficking
Abu Dhabi, Jan 11, 2010 (WAM)- The human trafficking Committee in Ministry of Interior discussed in its fifth meeting procedures for preventing human trafficking and ways of heightening public awareness about the phenomenon and efforts to curb it.
Chaired by Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Nakhira, Director of the Ministry's Department of Human Rights and Head of the Training Plan Committee, the committee underscored the role of the police in the detection and investigation of human trafficking crimes. The role of the police in protecting victims was also touched during the meeting. Colonel Nakhira underlined Ministry's keenness to implement the UAE strategy in fighting the phenomenon in accordance with the international procedures.
